Failure to subdue excitable police-trained canines used for scent-detection of narcotics and explosives can seriously undermine law enforcement. Trials involving federal controlled substances and explosives may be delicate, but the K9 Evidence Lock-up Case is tough. It is an innovative system that shields evidence against the unpredictable problems of transport, changeable weather, time decay – and K9 claws and teeth. The lock-up case is unique because it puts layers of protection between evidence and the elements. The spacious base of the case is designed with Polyethylene foam cut-outs that hold up to five smaller individual containers. These compact, hard-shell carrying cases allow agents to separate key portions of evidence. The inside dimensions of the containers are 7.38"L x 4.88"W x 3.12"H (0.50" Lid over 2.62" Base). The interior containers as well as the outer shell of the K9 Evidence Lock-up Case are made of unbreakable Copolymer Polypropylene.
All hard-shell containers come with the CaseCruzer lifetime guarantee and other standard features: pad lockable flanges and easy-open latches. Automatic pressure valves that protect sensitive substances by maintaining a stable environment even while in flight, keeping out water molecules and equalizing interior moisture. The narcotics-bomb system is also designed with two foam cavities, or storage compartments, that measure 3.75" in diameter and are impervious to solvents and chemical attacks. The compartments are ideal for items such as disposable exam gloves and polytesting report pads – in short, all essential drug test supplies needed for law enforcement, intelligence commands, customs and correctional facilities. The case can also accommodate items such as tape and batteries that may be gathered following detection of explosive devices.
The exterior dimensions of the CaseCruzer K9 Evidence Lock-up Case are 21.25"L x 16.50"W x 9.75"H. Including the five smaller containers, the carrying case weighs only 29 lbs.
Law enforcement professionals say a protective evidence transport system is critical when working with canines. Although K9 team training is intense, it can be difficult to control dogs that have found narcotics, explosives and other contraband. That’s because canines have a keen, sensitive olfactory nerve: they are born with 200 million scent receptors, and can detect odors 48 to 72 hours after the controlled substances have been removed from an environment. Naturally, the dogs become agitated and aggressive when they sniff out narcotics and other dangerous materials.
